Putting a harness on your dog is not simply about getting it on. If the harness keeps shifting to one side during walks, the fit or adjustment may need attention.
1. Check the position
A properly fitted harness should stay relatively stable on your dog’s body instead of moving noticeably to one side.
2. Check the tightness
A harness that is too tight may restrict movement, while one that is too loose can shift during activity. Adjust it so it fits securely without feeling restrictive.
3. Check it while your dog moves
A harness may look fine when your dog is standing still but shift once they start walking. Watch for movement, rubbing, or restricted motion.
4. Consider the harness design
Different harness designs distribute pressure differently and offer different levels of adjustment and freedom of movement. Consider both your dog’s body shape and daily activities when choosing one.
A good harness should do more than simply fit—it should stay secure and comfortable while your dog moves.
